4-11-2024 Q&A: Aspire Updates, 3D Tab Issues, Profile Tabs, Cutting STL Files, Clock Face Component, Clipart Library Organization

q&a meetup replays Apr 11, 2024

In this Q&A Meetup, we tackled a range of intricate topics catered to enhancing your proficiency with Vectric software. Participants engaged in deep dives into the Aspire updates, navigating issues with tabs in 3D projects, and the nuances of working with STL files, particularly focusing on creating miter joints. The discussion also covered practical methods for achieving flat tops on numerals for clock faces and effective ways to organize and manage clipart libraries within the Vectric ecosystem. Moreover, insights into optimizing 3D toolpaths, understanding combine modes, and setting vector boundaries were shared. Whether you are dealing with software updates or looking for tips on file management and toolpath settings, this session provided valuable guidance, ensuring participants can make the most of their Vectric software tools in their CNC projects.

Questions Answered in this Q&A:

  • 00:04:12 - When I've updated my Aspire, it left a couple older versions there. Can you explain, is there any reason to keep those? And do any of our older files stay there? And now that we've moved to this new one, what would you recommend?
  • 00:11:23 - I'm having an issue with tabs. I have added to a 3d project being completely cut out instead of remaining attached to the wood to hold the project in place. I've included an image. I assumed it would, it was a combined mode issue, but not a combination will fix the issue. I'm using model boundary with an offset. Any ideas?
  • 00:18:17 - For someone who doesn't do a lot of 3D, my question is why do I even have to add a 3D tab? Why couldn't I add tabs in the profile and that would add a hold down tab?
  • 00:28:57 - My question this week is about cutting STL files, not slicing. I want to make a square STL frame, but I'd like to be able to make miter joints so I can cut the pieces individually from one board. I'm not sure if this can be done but not sure I can do it if I'm able to do it with VCarve Pro.
  • 00:47:37 - He's trying to get the numbers to have a flat top and not just proud of the height of the face. When he turns on the clock face component and he's asking if he needs a flat plane, he can't figure it out.
  • 00:52:54 - I'm wondering if there's an easy way to or any way to edit or organize my Clipart libraries or add new folders to move Clipart around into new folders or other ways to organize my Clipart library.
